Reverend Powell received his calling to preach in 2000, and became ordained in 2002, under the direction of Pastor Homer L. Thomas II of The Mountain View Baptist Church, Dallas, TX., where he served as associate minister, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, a member of the male chorus, and as the assistant president of the brotherhood.
After becoming a student at SBIC, he became one of the founding members of Faithful Fellowship Bible Church under the leadership of Pastor Cecil Hawkins, Sr., then later, an associate minister of Anointed Fellowship Bible Church as the Prayer ministry pastor.

Reverend Powell currently serves at Bibleway Bible Church, where he continues to make available his gifts of teaching and prayer, to any ministries in need.

Benjamin and his wife Lilline have been married for 32 years.  They have five children (Three boys and two girls), twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.
